SEND Programme 1 (face-to-face sessions)

This programme consists of 3 different SEND focus areasfor participants to choose from.
Each of these foci consists of aone day training session followed by a half-day reflection session.Please sign up to this training using the hyperlinks below. 

SEND Programme 1 options:

This module will explore the following:

  • What mindfulness is
  • Think about what the research tells us
  • Learn about how we can use mindfulness with the children
  • Think about how we can use mindfulness ourselves

This module will explore the following:

  • What are aided language displays
  • How can they be used to supplement other forms of communication in the classroom
  • Using symbols to support communication and reading

This module will explore the following:

  • Different types  of play and learning
  • Consider the characteristics of effective learning
  • Consider the cognitive and affective principles which underpin learning
  • Consider developmentally appropriate practices and how play could be used for the older and more able children
  • Reflect on the role of the adult in guiding play, cognition, and learning

*Currently sessions are planned to be delivered face-to-face at The Westminster School however this is subject to change depending on government advice nearer the time. SEND Programme 2 (Virtual sessions): This programme consists of a series of one-off SEND twilight sessions for participants to choose from, delivered via Microsoft Teams:
