On Friday 22nd November, a group of 65 Year 8 pupils had the opportunity to visit the NEC World Skills UK Live show. The world skills show gives pupils the chance to speak one-on-one with employers to gain expert advice on the world beyond school.
The show was split into five main sections, Construction & Infrastructure, Health, Hospitality & Lifestyle, Business & Creative and Engineering & Technology. The show was a real eye-opener to all the career paths our pupils can take.
The show offered 100s of ‘Have a Go’ experiences that encouraged pupils to try new skills first hand that have been developed and delivered by leaders their industries. Activities ranged from virtual welding to SFX make up to demolition simulators to game testing. There was something available to everyone.
