Engineering is a big field and is only getting bigger. In the spirit of bringing more females into the profession, AT&T in Headless Cross, Redditch hosted Girl Day on Thursday, 28th March. Girl Day is a global campaign where thousands of engineers and employers in general serve as role models to educate girls about what they can accomplish through engineering.
A group of our sixth form girls participated and over the course of a day took part in activities and challenges that required them to problem solve, use their initiative and show resilience. Working with girls from other schools, they were outside of their comfort zone but it was notable that they grew in confidence as they worked alongside their new peers as the day progressed.
We would like to thank Julie Rose Smith for hosting our girls and look forward to next years event.
